Bremer Tanztheater
Chief Choreographers
- Susanne Linke
- Urs Dietrich
At the Art Summit Indonesia in October 1 & 2, 1998 in Jakarta, the famous Bremer Tanztheater, the dance theatre group of the city of Bremen has amazed the local dance spectators with its wonderful performance. Bremen is one of the centers of dance theatre in Germany.
The best lady dancer in the world.
The chief choreographer, a lady of 54 year old, Susanne Linke is a very famous dance soloist. In her age, she is a fit dancer as ever, according to German Dance Critic, Jochen Schmidt. Her elegant dance composition, "Also Egmont, bitte" created for the Jose Limon Dance company in New York, and the masterpiece "Frauenballet" for the Folkwang dance Studio, with another dance composition, "Heisse Luft" has enriched the German Dance Theatre encyclopedia.
The Bremer Tanztheater has astonishingly performed 3 masterpieces in front of Jakarta dance enthusiasts. The Bremer Tanztheater with Susane Linke and a young co-Director, a highly talented Swiss Urs Dietrich, has caught again the golden glory of German dance theatre pioneered by Pina Bausch and Johann Kresnik in the late 1960s.
Participation at the Art Summit Indonesia II, 1998
The art lovers of the capital Jakarta were very enthusiastic to enjoy the golden opportunity of the Bremer dance ensemble lead by world wide class choreographer Susanne Linke. This rare artistic occasion was made available due to cooperation between the Art Summit Committee with the support from The Goethe Institute.
A Solid Team of professional dancers
The two evening enthrilling performances have greatly satisfied the local audience who are thirsty of international reputable appreciation.
The Bremer artists-guests, with all its artistic skillful crew behind the screen led by Artistic Director cum Choreographer Susanne Linke, have presented the dance performance, consisting of 11 dancers at its best. One of the dancer is Indonesian Ditta Miranda Jasjfi.
Frauenballet
Linke’s creation of 1981 was a wonderfully flowing group dance demonstrating the beautiful daily movements. Starting with the feet, bend of knees, swinging of hips and bodies down to the floor and back again in standing position.
A long cloth is used as a manifold symbol. The female dancers, like washerwomen have to beat and rub the cloth, while two gentlemen with privilege of the ruling gender toddling around. Linke’s illusion of blending social and sexual antagonism into the dance has been conducted perfectly.
Accompanied by ‘Magnificat’s Krzystof Penderecki and guitar music of renaissance, it was an impressive dance, indeed!
Heisse Luft
She presented "Heisse Luft" in Jakarta with pride. Back in her town of Bremen this choreography has been accepted enthusiastically. The audience sees with the Portrayal of power on stage, Sumo Wrestlers, silly women, brilliantly put on stage to the music of the incessant cackling of hens and the chirping of the birds. It is a magnificent show.
Also Egmont, Bitte
This show is a rare quality of a perfect concept and realization of music and scenes. The rehearsal of Beethoven’s Egmont overture was a very original idea producing a virtuoso performance of everyday life of dancers in their different constellation. The most outstanding thing to be remembered in this dance is its soft flowing dance and play.
